Pre-Loved. Clearly Defined.
No surprises.
Every Pre-Loved piece has a history, but that history can look very different from one item to another.
Some SHOPUBBI pieces have never been worn. Some still have their original tags attached. Others have been gently enjoyed and carefully maintained by a previous owner.
Our condition system makes that difference clear.
You should know what you’re buying before it arrives.
The SHOPUBBI Condition Scale
NWT — New With Tags
Never worn. Original tags attached.
The item is in new condition and retains its original retail tags.
It has not been worn or used, although packaging or other original accessories may not always be included unless specifically stated.
Condition: New
NWOT — New Without Tags
Never worn. No original tags.
The item is in new, unworn or unused condition but no longer has its original retail tags attached.
This is particularly common in resale. Someone may have removed the tags, missed a return window or simply never ended up wearing the piece.
Condition: New
EXCELLENT — Barely Worn
Exceptionally well maintained.
The item has been worn or used minimally and shows little to no noticeable evidence of previous use.
Any minor imperfections will be disclosed when applicable.
This is the closest condition to new within our previously worn merchandise.

GREAT — Lightly Worn
Previously enjoyed. Beautifully maintained.
The item shows minor signs of previous wear but remains in very well-maintained condition.
Depending on the product, this could include subtle surface wear, light creasing or other small indications of use.
Material signs of wear will be represented in the product information or imagery where applicable.
Condition: Lightly Worn
GOOD — Gently Worn
Loved before and ready to be loved again.
The item shows noticeable signs of normal previous use while remaining functional, presentable and appropriate for resale.
Wear may include things such as surface marks, creasing, minor discoloration, hardware wear, fabric wear or other imperfections appropriate to the product.
Relevant wear is disclosed so you can decide whether the piece is right for you.
Condition: Gently Worn
FAIR — Visible Wear
More history. More character.
The item shows more significant evidence of previous ownership but remains usable and worthy of resale.
Depending on the piece, this may include visible marks, fading, scratches, wear to materials, heavier creasing or other imperfections.
These pieces can offer an opportunity to purchase something distinctive or desirable at a price that reflects its condition.
Significant known wear will be disclosed in the listing.

Pre-Loved Doesn’t Always Mean Worn.
This distinction matters to us.
Secondhand merchandise is often stereotyped as heavily used, dated or compromised.
That’s simply not an accurate representation of much of the inventory that passes through SHOPUBBI.
A Pre-Loved piece means it has been previously owned.
It doesn’t necessarily mean it has been previously worn.
That’s why NWT and NWOT merchandise still belongs within our Pre-Loved collection when it comes to SHOPUBBI through the resale market.
The condition rating tells you the physical condition.
Pre-Loved tells you how it entered our marketplace.
What We Look At
Condition is evaluated according to the type of merchandise being sold.
For clothing, we may consider fabric condition, staining, pilling, stretching, alterations, hardware and general signs of wear.
For handbags and accessories, we may consider exterior and interior condition, corners, handles, straps, hardware, lining, structure and surface wear.
For footwear, we may consider uppers, soles, heels, insoles, hardware and overall structure.
For jewelry and watches, we may consider scratching, tarnishing, plating, stones, clasps, hardware and other signs of previous use.
Different materials naturally age differently, so condition is considered within the context of the individual piece.

A condition rating gives you a quick reference, but it shouldn’t replace the actual product information.
When an item has relevant wear or imperfections, we aim to communicate them through the product description, imagery or both.
We encourage customers purchasing Pre-Loved merchandise to review all available photographs and condition information before ordering.
Part of the appeal of resale is that every piece is different.
Transparency makes those differences easier to shop.
What About Vintage?
Age alone doesn’t make an item poor condition.
Vintage and archival merchandise may naturally show characteristics associated with its age while still being beautifully preserved.
We evaluate vintage pieces in context and disclose relevant imperfections wherever applicable.
In some cases, a little history is part of what makes the piece special.
Condition and Authenticity Are Different.
A condition rating tells you how an item has been maintained and used.
Authentication determines whether applicable designer or luxury merchandise is consistent with the genuine product it is represented to be.
These are separate parts of the SHOPUBBI evaluation process.
A well-worn luxury handbag can still be authentic.
An unworn item still needs to meet applicable authenticity requirements.
